The 17th Annual Concerto Competition sponsored by the Fairbanks Symphony Association will be held in Davis Concert Hall on October 6 and 7, 2007.  This annual event affords outstanding young musicians the opportunity to perform in concert with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra. A panel of two adjudicators will choose the winner in each category.

• October 6:  Category A 11 years and under
                   Category B 12-15 years

• October 7:  Category C 16-18 years
                   Category D UAF Full-time Student

Concerto Competition winners will perform their winning concerto on the Fairbanks Symphony Association's Design Alaska Family Holiday Celebration Concert on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 4pm. They will be required to be available for all rehearsals for the Holiday Concert scheduled by the Music Director. Rehearsals for the concert will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning November 6, 2007. There will also be a Friday evening rehearsal on November 30 at 7pm, and a Saturday afternoon dress rehearsal on December 1 beginning at 2pm.
Participants must check in advance with the FSA librarian regarding the availability of orchestral parts for their chosen work. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 10am–5pm; please call 474-5734 to speak to the FSA librarian. Participants are also responsible for finding their own accompanist for the competition. Participants must have their concerto memorized.
