Sign up early to Beat Beethoven! In Fairbanks Beethoven’s 5th has become synonymous with running. Join Maestro Zilberkant on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 10am as he gives the downbeat signaling the start of the race. The joyous strains of this Symphony, recorded by the Arctic Chamber Orchestra, can be heard all along the race course as over 500 runners compete to "Beat Beethoven". Participants who finish the course around the UAF campus before the last note of the symphony will receive a voucher good for admission to any Fairbanks Symphony or Arctic Chamber Orchestra regular season concert during the 2008-09 season concert. This fundraiser is fun for the whole family—runners, joggers, and walkers are all welcome. Not an athlete? We also welcome volunteers to staff the course with their radios.
